About

Project Rising Sun (PRS)

Project Rising Sun, an initiative of the Fund for Theological Education, is a leadership program for 20 gifted young pastoral leaders with a particular focus on African-American and Hispanic pastors.  These young ministers are:

  • typically under the age of 40
  • seminary trained
  • serving churches, in this inaugural class, between Atlanta, GA and Wilmington, NC

PRS is a two-year intensive program that utilizes peer learning, leadership retreats, collective action, idea exchange, informal mentoring and professional coaching. Participants take advantage of these resources to develop skills for collaborative leadership, building strong congregations and for developing viable community partnerships.

The inaugural class is full and we will not be taking applications for the next class until 2011

See PRS Fact Sheet for more information.

The Fund for Theological Education (FTE)

FTE is a national ecumenical organization dedicated to identifying and supporting the next generation of excellent and diverse pastors and teachers for the church.

As part of its commitment to excellence and diversity in Christian ministry and theological scholarship, FTE has helped produce a cohort of prominent church leaders—a distinct constellation of pastors and religious scholars.  This distinguished cohort is defined by the qualities of theologically trained leadership, attention to social context and vision for the community beyond the church’s walls.

Through Project Rising Sun, FTE addresses who will succeed these leaders and what they need to faithful lead the church into its future.
